PLASTIX is a Danish clean-tech recycling company specialized in mechanically recycling waste plastic fibres, into high-quality Green Plastics.
PLASTIX has developed a unique technology, enabling the mechanical recycling of post-use plastic fibres and rigid plastics primarily from the maritime industry.
PLASTIX’ mechanical recycling technology is developed through a co-creative process, combining custom-made own processing technologies and proprietary adjusted equipment.
Our consistent, high-quality pellets are the product of expert proprietary know-how, which enables us to research, develop and produce according to costumer specific requirements.
Our process starts with sourcing primarily fibre plastics in terms of fishing nets, trawls and ropes from an increasing number of ports, net makers, and plastics collectors globally. We also process and recycle rigid plastics.
Once these used plastic materials arrive at our factory, we sort and fractionate these into the different types of plastics and colours.
This can be a rather labour-intensive step, as the recyclability of fishing gear and other plastic fibre products is currently not considered by the manufacturers nor users.
After sorting and fractioning, we shred, wash, separate and dry the material. Lastly, we compound and extrude it into new Green Plastic raw materials, also called pellets.
PLASTIX’ on-site laboratory analyses, registers and assesses the recyclability of all input waste streams.
We currently have over 900 different types of nets, ropes and trawls registered in our extensive lab-database, which grows on a daily basis.
All output products are analysed, quality assured and their properties described with a specific data sheet in our unique customer relevant plastics database. This is a prerequisite for guarantying our high-quality Green Plastics.
Using our OceanIX Green Plastics means reducing the Carbon-Footprint of your product by up to 94,3% CO2e emissions in comparison to virgin plastic.
PLASTIX is proud to be part of the world’s most important plan: The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. We have incorporated 6 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals as part of our Business Strategy.
We have committed to Operation Clean Sweep (OCS), a product stewardship program with the goal to to help every plastic resin handling operation implement good housekeeping and pellet, flake, and powder containment practices to work towards achieving zero pellet, flake, and powder loss.
PLASTIX is a participant of the UN Global Compact initiative.
